Calls
Live call translation: speak your language, be heard in theirs
A translated call in Dilinga starts like any other call. You speak your own language, the other person speaks theirs, and each sentence reaches the other side translated and spoken out loud — during the call, not after it.
Dilinga is coming very soon to the App Store and Google Play. Write to [email protected] and we will tell you the day it opens. Ask about Dilinga →
How a translated call works
- You speak. Your phone recognises the sentence as you say it. Speech recognition runs on the device.
- The text is translated into the language the other person reads.
- It is spoken on their side, while the conversation keeps going. Neither of you has to press a button or wait for a turn.
What you need
Both people use Dilinga — the call happens inside the app, not over a regular phone line or another messenger. Each person picks the language they speak and read; Dilinga shows that language next to every contact. Calls work in 34 languages, including Turkish, English, Arabic, German, Russian, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese.
When it helps
- Calling family members who grew up speaking another language.
- Talking to a supplier, a customer or a colleague abroad without booking an interpreter.
- Sorting out a booking, a repair or a delivery with someone who does not share your language.
Privacy on calls
The audio of the call is not sent anywhere for translation: your phone turns speech into text, and only the text is translated. The running transcript stays on the device that made it. See the privacy policy for every service involved.
In your own voice
Instead of a synthetic reader, the translation can be spoken in the speaker's own voice. Voice modelling is in closed beta, opt-in, needs a recorded consent and can be deleted at any time.
Questions
Can Dilinga translate a normal phone call or a WhatsApp call?
No. The translated call takes place inside Dilinga, so both people need the app.
Do we have to take turns?
No. Each sentence is translated as it is recognised, so the conversation flows without buttons between sentences.
Can I see what was said?
Yes. A running transcript is kept on your own device so you can look back at the call.
